We arrived to the Symposium Triumph this is pretty much what you experienced already so let's observe a little bit the works and then after whoever wants to share something and is triggered to share any vision that this painting triggers just let us know Because actually the first thought I had right now was based on the conversation we had with them earlier where they were asked whether Berlin influenced their work and funnily enough I do feel like they remind me a lot of a Berlin concrete wall that you might encounter outside with graffiti maybe it's old ones maybe it's old ones that are painted over but I think it's quite funny that there is maybe even a subconscious connection for the artist to be here That's it To me it feels like just a map of someone's life with many layers and it's messy and you have different seasons and splashes of colors and chapters and they are all in conversation with each other and you have to really pay attention and it's because it's so I don't know if you look at a car and then move around and you see many things and by paying attention you discover you're being surprised by oh I didn't see this little thing and I just like it it's very soothing and also very lively at the same time for me It's lively Well I mean every time you have a splash of color it's just like the yellow and then every color in relationship to each other tells something different and if the blue was near something else then it would also impact how we would see this blue because that's how colors work and I don't know it just feels like a map of someone's maybe life not saying that that was their intention but that's how I would love to describe a map if we had any kind of map for ourselves A map of ourselves Yeah like a map of our lives If we somehow could take a screenshot of like our lives then it's like many layers on top of layers on top of layers on top of layers with I know you have like a season of your life and it's the purple one and that was the time that happened and then when you move around like you had other things and then sometimes it's big sometimes it's small sometimes it's a geometric shape sometimes it's just like yeah I don't know something like that It's so interesting thank you so much thank you so much And if somebody wants to add anything to it please So I'm Mareike and I also would like to add to the wall thing but also to the life thing that I had this imagination of memory in these paintings because I was like when I watched it thinking about the brain the human brain So there are some studies where you have these slices and then you have the synapses and they are kind of like lightening up and then you always have different regions of the brain that are like lightening and different slices and so for me it's almost like a map maybe of a brain or so and then when you also add this other painting you also have a kind of relation maybe also communication so that it could be like two people interacting with each other influencing each other's brains kind of and I was also thinking about this third person because that's the artist so it might be also kind of self reflecting dialogue with oneself with a dialogue between two paintings I think that's super interesting and so it's something like that for me Like two brains interacting with each other like you mean in that canvas or like these two canvases interacting with each other So I think you can have different perspectives but I would say yeah one brain another brain and then you also have this artist brain and then the artist brain is constructing both things so this is also some kind of self reflection so it's only one brain in that sense but you could also see it as three you see something like that And the third mind the artist mind you see it like an external layer or like you see it it's inside this scenario that you're imagining Maybe both you can see it as a person creating but also as a dialogue between the three imaginations Very interesting thank you You're welcome Yes please I'm Bethany this is my first time here I'm having so much fun thank you What really stood out to me was this painting that's what I love about it is some elements feel really close up like the colors feel almost like up against my eyeball like they're really vibrant and then the other elements feel far away so to me it feels like space like it's giving me this feeling that I'm in space and I'm actually an object in space with these elements and like it's almost like like in music like I like music where there's elements that are like electronic music that's some of the elements are close and some of them are far like an echo or something that's very loud and then something that's far away so this painting excites me because it it also seems to have elements that are very ambiguous about if they're a sound or or something visual or if it represents like some of them look like string which feels like a mundane item but it also could symbolize something extremely huge you know like a sensation that has some kind of symbolic weight so I think I love the spaciousness of it and the ambiguity and it feels very free like anything could happen at any moment in this painting you know I don't know that's just my thoughts but I really love that one Thank you so much You're welcome Anyone else want to share I actually like all of them and when I got in like inside in the room the first moment I felt like a little bit of like pain because it seems like it's revealing something but it's not revealed yet so it's kind of like unfinished so I could see this like walking every day past for example this one or the first one and it will always trigger something different like because you're thinking about I don't know you're working towards something and it's messy and you don't understand it yet but then this kind of visualizes that uncertainty or it's not clear and then between being not clear and you wanting it to be transparent and obvious there's like this gap that causes this like pain I don't know and it's not pain it's like annoyance or something but in a good way like that in the middle of like this peaceful like kind of peaceful colors then all of a sudden you feel like there is something happening and maybe it's an annoyance or like a disturbance but at the end is it entertaining I mean it's not in a negative way and for me it like this one is like finished from my end right like I could have like this one I think it's what's the beauty of it is because it's so it's so I wouldn't say me it because it's not it it kind of invites you to go deeper but you can't thank you very much kind of an odd one I really like the floor like I truly think it would be nice to cut out the floor and put this like this in two sections on the actual walls because it I think that's what I like most about the ones on the wall is the tension between the colorful bits and the negative space like it it's subjective it almost makes me deeply frustrated at this one for having colored bits like I almost because everything else in the room has it from the floor to the other walls the fact that it's not here for some reason I'm like bothered by it which is I mean obviously that that could also be fun but I just mean I think my favorite thing about these other two is the the tension between the bits and I feel like that tension is deliberately not in this one but just while it's in this room it I feel its absence when I look at this one yeah I think you're right yeah I think I think it I think that actually is correct but I mean even like all of this that's on the floor I'd want to see like on the walls thank you very much yes who else all right then let's go to the other room and we have a look to the other paintings please yeah I think I'm Francis and these paintings look like how a child would view the world it's like so blue and I mean clouds are beautiful but they're not this beautiful but I think if you look at it from the memory of a child and these things look so blue so surreal and like full of life so I think that's what was the first thing that came into my mind looking at these paintings like a childish memory or a childish like something that was made from this memory but looking at the world as something special or something new to discover like with fresh set of eyes you know like because as a child is the first time you're looking at these things and your view is not yet formed so you just look at that with wonder and think like wow that's so cool thank you very much I love the easter egg element of those paintings where the just like trying to understand what the a stands for and then you know like the collages and just how the practice inform the final piece it makes me want to look to spend hours in front of them and trying to kind of like decipher the yeah the different elements that were used to create those like collages scene those little vignettes yeah I just find this so fascinating because a sky is not just a sky it's just like a collection of things and yeah just like and then it's the same thing here where you have different elements and you're like how are those things in dialogue here and I don't know then you can make up your own story which I think is great in art in general that's such a nice thought thank you hello my name is Amir I very much like this painting because with the use of like geometry and the negative space it feels to me that it's not inspired by memory but it's capturing memory so you have to me looks like several flashbacks of one's memory especially these blue ones and the fact that they have some geometry around them or some framing so of course like these three blue pieces basically are the same thing but each of them is also separate piece by itself and the very I would say genius use of negative space kind of shows you okay this is just some piece of somebody's mind and the connection with this band the happy birthday band so it looks very different of course that's something different and the sky looks very different but you could imagine that someone has these memories basic at the same time because it triggers the sort of feeling of having some connection with the past or just a flashback maybe a memory and then you have this grayish part again the same thing but maybe more vague a memory that you cannot really remember so it's very good depiction of having flashbacks or very like an instant of memory that could come to your mind and goes away and you never notice but now it's depicted on the wall and it's just frozen and you can't just look at it that's a really cool analysis because it's kind of like it's capturing oh sorry just wanted to build off what you said because as you just said that it occurred to me that the painting itself is like a snapshot of a snapshot like a snapshot of someone else's maybe fleeting millisecond inner collage of a feeling of a moment and it's kind of crazy we all have these microsecond feelings and so throughout the entire day throughout our lives so we all have like an archive our own very unique archive of like memories and symbols exact symbols exactly so thank you that was really i just would say i don't even see it as a symbol it's just like to me it looks like a real memory that you could have that picture like the real picture of sky in your head because once you're a kid you look at the sky and everything is so fascinating and the sky itself the same but doesn't look that impressive anymore which is of course our ignorance because it is still fascinating and this just brings it back and so all the fascination that is somewhere hidden in your mind and it just brings it out i think it's like a skylight on a particular birthday of theirs because hiv i think my mind just wants to complete it to happy birthday so it's like maybe a special birthday for the child or something yeah something like i understand like something that you have already seen and it's maybe like like something familiar or something yeah like a special memory or something thank you anyone else wants to share something okay um now it's just like connecting everything we've been saying i love and going back to also the material that's being used is um looking at the mundane as something extraordinary someone else ordinary someone else extraordinary and maybe like a birthday banner or happy something banner you know we don't really think about it twice but then reinterpreted or putting in a different kind of yeah collages i don't know it makes it like very special and when you pay attention to the things on the street the thing you have in your house and then you try to i don't know like really pay attention to them everything is special and then it's a way to kind of like paying an homage to that to the simple things in life i guess from sky to a birthday building up on what you guys all said um these artworks um especially that one reminds me of last time i was actually looking at the sky because as you said it's not something that we do so often we take it for granted as i don't understand why but last time that i was watching the the sky was a few months ago probably and i was laying down with my friends um at my at my university where i don't go anymore but i was visiting my university back in italy and we were probably laying down for like 20 minutes not so much but we were observing the movement of the everything that happens in the sky maybe when it's not like a super light sky but you have some clouds or i don't know how do you call the things that the airplane do okay it's not a nice name it's not so poetic let's call them stream things in the sky why the clouds go like this and like that but probably hundreds of years ago they had no idea and they had no smartphones they had nothing to do and they were just laying down on on the on the grass looking in the sky and they were wondering why this was happening and that's why now we know because they have they had nothing to do and they were like enjoying the environment and like chilling on the grass and i was like wow this is something so special to actually realize that someone hundreds of year ago years ago was doing this and then deciding to learn more about the clouds for example and create a whole uh many books and all the history that we have about clouds now we take it for granted but maybe all the scientists behind there there were just guys that were chilling on the grass that's what i thought and so yeah the sky is special thank you for thank you thank you matthia so my name is mattia and this piece is the one who caught caught my eyes more than anything else i could not tell really why but it bring me certainly at ease at first if i keep going through all the details i see perhaps it tells me it's like there is no one one sky there is two sky and the tree so it's like this complexity of the minds they remind me how the minds work well i i'm driving and i'm remembering stuff randomly that makes no sense and it's like the minds that pops different images and different emotions it's like all yeah in this case all beautiful sometimes even not beautiful so i really love this piece thank you matthia guys thank you very much it was lovely to hear
