Between Illusion& Action: A City at the Crossroads

An open doorway beckons—a passage to something better, a promise of progress. Yet, beneath this illusion, uncertainty lurks. A swirling staircase winds in shadow, birds take flight without clear direction, and the question lingers: is this truly the right path, or just another illusion we convince ourselves to believe? The temple bell hangs in contrast, its resonance echoing through the image. It asks—are we placing too much faith in tradition, in rituals, in forces beyond ourselves, while the world around us demands tangible change? Can devotion alone solve the challenges of climate crisis, urban decay, and the pursuit of a better life? Or must we forge a new path, one grounded in action, in cleaner air, stronger infrastructure, and a future we actively shape? This question is even more urgent in Delhi, which was reported as India’s most polluted city in 2022. The weight of smog-laden skies, unbreathable air, and a metropolis choking under its own progress underscores the need for a new direction. The open door may symbolise hope, but the reality beyond it remains unclear.
