Description and Program

This workshop aims to explore traditional Brazilian rhythms from samba and capoeira using the body as a musical ins-
trument. It is open to everyone. Body Percussion offers a transformative experience regardless of skill level, improving the sense of rhythm, promoting teamwork, mind-body coordination, and creativity.
Origin: The idea of using the body as a musical instrument took shape in Italy while my father and I were planning to play samba in
the port of Naples with friends and students. Despite the guards stopping us from entering the harobour with instruments, we turned
the situation around by creating a large circle where everyone made music with their own bodies. From that moment on, we started
transferring and adapting Afro-Brazilian rhythms to Body Percussion, using it in our samba capoeira and seminars.
Since then Araiké also started to integrate Body Percussion to his artistic practice, by creating collective performances, using the body
as an instrument and activating sculptures through body and sound.

What to bring: Yourself! Comfortable clothing in which you feel at ease.
Duration: The workshop extends for 2-3 hour session (including a small break with drinks and snacks).
